A Run For Love, by Callie Hutton

In 1889, determined teacher Tori Henderson desperately wants to enter the Oklahoma Territory land run for a piece of free land in the town of Guthrie.  She and her orphaned nieces and nephews are about to be homeless, and she needs a teaching job.

Attorney Jesse Cochran is the son of a whore, a background he wishes to hide.  As her new neighbor in Oklahoma, he is attracted to the cantankerous woman, but she has no desire to put herself under the thumb of a man.

When one of her nieces runs away from home, Jesse and Tori go after her, and the few nights spent together results in an unplanned pregnancy.  Unwilling to repeat his parents’ mistakes, he insists on marriage.  Tori is adamant no man will take away her independence, and her stubbornness leads to a tragedy that tears them apart.  But Jesse has a plan and is not about to give up.  Is his stubbornness enough to win her back?
