What’s in a name…

For my last post here this year, I wanted to come up with something profound and inspiring. Instead I’ll reveal my secret thrill now that I’m finally a published author.

PNBA2013 016Ed and I have been married for 33 years. He has a very Slavic last name that is often misspelled and mispronounced. He’s very proud of his name though our daughters were really happy to marry and change their names to their husbands surname.

Ed said he would never answer to being called “Mr. Patrick” no matter how famous I become. And yet, this is the name-tag he wore in the first month I was published!

Edward Patrick

Of course, he didn’t have his glasses on when he put it on, and didn’t really pay attention to the name on the tag until we had our picture taken.

I’m not allowed to let my mother-in-law see it, so I had to post it here!

Any secrets you want to share that only your fellow authors can know?

  1. Cute story! Sounds like you have a keeper!!

  2. Terri, I’m in the same boat with you–complicated last name and 30 plus years of marriage. I don’t think I could ever get him to wear a name badge that says “Mr. Field”. LOL How funny that they created your husband’s badge in your pseudonym.

  3. I get so happy every time I hear of a long marriage. Thank you for sharing that.
