I wanted to thank all the Blogathon participants as well as everyone who checked in, left comments, and promoted the event. I hope you all enjoyed learning about some of our amazing authors, getting a feel for what they write, and sharing in their hopes and dreams as they toss their hats in the publishing ring. Many of our participating authors for this Blogathon were showcasing their debut releases, and we celebrate with them, for there’s nothing that compares to the feeling you get when you first see your book online with a buy link attached.
I’ve been doing these Blogathons for a few years now, and they’re a lot of work. They’re also a lot of fun, and getting to know everyone this way means a great deal to me. I am a firm believer in taking advantage of every scrap of free promo that comes an author’s way. If only one person reads an SMP blog, then that’s one more than nobody. That’s kind of the way we all need to look at promotion. Because one grows to two, then five, then twenty. And before you know it, thousands of readers are following the blogsite. That’s when I break into a happy dance. And so it goes with each of you. One reader becomes five, fifty, a hundred. And all because you kept on writing, built your brand, your online bookshelf, and you promoted yourself.
It all counts, so never stop. Keep writing, keep improving, keep growing as an author. Build that bookshelf of fab stories, and find ways to promote each day. Reach out to each other. Support each other, offer kudos, advice, ideas. In other words, keep doing what you are already doing. Soulies are some of the most generous folks I know.
Thanks for participating in the August blogathon! I now return our regularly scheduled bloggers to their respective day-groups, starting Labor Day.
