Daffodils and Pussy Tails

IMG_3508 2015 Apr 23

Last year there was a late snow and I took the this photo of daffodils in full bloom with a dusting of that snow.

Oddly enough, on Sunday we got a snowstorm and the temperatures were far more frigid than last year. The daffodils this year were half-in-bloom (not full like last year) and the snow was deep enough to hide the grass.

Of course, late snows don’t stick around and sure enough, the sun came out and the snow melted, but the daffodils had been bent over from the weigh of the snow, most blooms touched the ground.

Of course, the snow is only partially to blame for the daffodils being bent over. I have three kittens. Three black (well not true black, more like seal brown) trio of culprits who have knocked down more than one patch of daffodils as they discover their new home. They are “under-the-porch” cats. Outdoor/barn cats who were raised by an Amish girl a couple roads away. All are from the same litter.

The trio seem to be half squirrel. They leap from branch to branch among the pines, yews, and apple tress that surround the house. Only in the past week have the three discovered I have a bird feeder.

Oh, and yesterday, they thanked me for feeding them and giving them a home–they caught a mouse. I got the carcass presented to me at the front door.

The three scamper and play. They don’t hold still long enough nor stay together for me to photograph them. (Big sigh). I’ll keep trying to get a picture of them to share.

Nice little kitties, cute little kitties, my Winkin, Blinkin, and Nod.

POSTSCRIPT –Just a bit ago I got the three to cooperate–not the greatest pictures but eventually I’ll get the hang of photographing the scallywags. W-B-N jpeg 4-2016

  1. Your kitties are adorable! I LOVE the names. Very clever. It’s great that you’re giving them a home.

  2. Yeah, I’m spoiling them with two meals a day. They sort of shunned the straw pile in favor of going under the porch. But cats do have a mind of their own. LOL
