Fall into Fiction by Tina Susedik

Fall is in the air and with it comes the beautiful changing colors (in Wisconsin, anyway), covertop1cooler temperatures (yay), the woodsy scent of fireplaces gearing up for the season, and… the beginning of fall craft shows, book signings, and travel.

I don’t do many book signings in the summer – especially this summer with our big move. Summer is a time for camping, hiking, biking, and spending more time with my grandchildren. Yesterday I spent a chunk of the day going through my calendar and trying to organize the events I have coming up, which event needs what information, and if I signed up for two events on the same day in The Trail to Love 3a Final_105x158different locations. Believe me, I’ve done that before. The closest I’ve come to that this year is having a book signing in northwestern Wisconsin on a Saturday from 9-3 and one on the next day 200 miles south from 1-3. As the saying goes: “Have to make hay while the sun shines.” All too soon the holidays will be here and the fall selling season over.

A big event I’m involved in is “Fall Into Fiction, A One Day Workshop for Fiction Writers of All Genres.” I belong to the Wisconsin Romance Writers of America. Wisconsin has four area groups. Each year they host a conference. My group, in Eau Claire/Chippewa Falls, is a small group, and don’t have enough members to host a conference. So this year, in place of a conference, we having a workshop, which our group can handle.

For the past year we’ve been planning, organizing, and inviting. The event takes place in three weeks. We’re all a little nervous as we’ve never done this before. Wsingle-red-leafe have a terrific speaker, best-selling author Candace Havens. We’re having a pizza party/social gathering on Friday night. There is also a book signing for Wisconsin Romance Authors. We’re hoping to pull in the public for this. Saturday is the workshop, with a celebration of the 20th anniversary of the formation of our area group. I was the founding member and can’t believe it’s been 20 years!

What plans do you have to either attend a book signing and support your favorite authors or be part of a book event?

Have a beautiful fall.

  1. Thanks, Tina. So much to do, too little time to do it in. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.
Good luck on your Fall Into Fiction event!
