Finding Lily, by Lisa D. Ellis

Do you believe in ghosts?

Claire Edwards hasn’t given the topic much thought recently, until her newborn baby, Lily, dies suddenly. While she struggles to cope with the loss, her husband Jim’s inability to cry with her magnifies her pain. In desperation, she runs away to a lighthouse she had fallen in love with as a young child, leaving Jim behind.

The lighthouse is reputed by some to have magical powers, but Claire isn’t looking for a miracle. She just wants an escape . . . from Jim’s lack of emotion . . . from all of the cards and phone calls she can’t face. . . and from her apartment, where she had waited for Lily with such hope.

But even the isolation of the lighthouse can’t provide enough of a buffer for Claire. As she replays her past and tries to envision a future without Lily in it, she discovers her grief has followed her there. So have her doubts about her marriage, and her questions about whether she and Jim are really meant to be together.

And when she least expects it, Claire discovers Lily may also be there. . . .
